Our Deliverer - December 7, 2015

Psalm 18:2 (New International Version, ©2010)
2 The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield[sovereign] and the horn[strength] of my salvation, my stronghold.

Isaiah 19:20 (New International Version, ©2010)
20 It will be a sign and witness to the LORD Almighty in the land of Egypt. When they cry out to the LORD because of their oppressors, he will send them a savior and defender, and he will rescue them.

It almost seems impossible that God would love us enough to rescue us from our sin. Have you ever stopped and wondered why? You know it is real. It can't be just how we were raised or who we were mentored by, because deep down within our soul, we know that we have done wrong. We know that without something or someone, we would be lost not only in the present, but also forever.

Why do you think that there are so many faiths and religions that require you do something to be made right with God? Even those who are atheists know the difference between right and wrong, although they will never admit it is a God given feeling within them. There is a time in everyone's life when they know that they have to become right with their Maker. We all have to place our trust and hope in something.

Thank God that long before we were a thought, the plan was made to provide us with a deliverer and a Savior. That is what we look forward to when as we approach Christmas. That is why we look to "the coming" of Jesus as a time to celebrate and keep holy. It is not a mere man we are looking for; it is the One sent from heaven who will rescue us.

The past several years I have taken you with me on my Advent journey as I travel the path of "the coming", the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus. I hope you enjoy reading these highlights about our Savior as much as I do.
