1 Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.
2 Worship the LORD with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
3 Know that the LORD is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
5 For the LORD is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations.
Psalm 100 (New International Version)
As those who are redeemed, we must always stop to give praise to God. We need to continually have his praises on our lips, because everything we have is from Him. Who we are, and whatever we may become, are because of Him. Look around you. Look at the blessings that have been showered on you and your family. These are all because God loves you.
But, are you faced with an obstacle that seems too much to overcome? Give thanks. Is what you are going through so overwhelming, that it seems as if it will overtake you? Give thanks. At times when things are at their most difficult, and you are at your wits end, give thanks. In each and every thing and in each and every situation, give thanks.
When you give thanks to God, who has given you life and breath, you will see and experience His goodness, mercy, and peace.
