8 He who made the Pleiades and Orion,
who turns midnight into dawn
and darkens day into night,
who calls for the waters of the sea
and pours them out over the face of the land—
the LORD is his name.
Since mankind has been on the earth they have gazed into the heavens and wondered, "Who is He?" Who is He that made the heavens and the very earth on which we stand? Who turns the night into day and back again? Who cycles time through the seasons as the earth changes before our eyes, turning everything into Winter, causing the world to grow cold and lifeless, and yet before we know it brings it back to life again? Who causes the tides to ebb and flow, and cause the sea to rage, before it calms into gentle laps upon the sand?
Who is it who's creative genius caused Orion to watch over the night sky, and who has flung every star into its place, yet cares for the smallest of His creatures? Who is He who has given Himself to us in the person of Jesus, who cared enough to rescue us from our own failure and sin? Who is He who want to someday bring us to Himself to love us throughout eternity?
If you haven't answered that question for yourself, look up into the sky tonight and wonder as men have since long ago, and then discover the answer; it is the Lord.
