Luke 12:40(GOD’S WORD Translation)
40Be ready, because the Son of Man will return when you least expect him.”
Day in and day out, many of us spend a lot of time getting ready. No, I don't mean to go to work or school, but we spend a lot of time in preparation for what we are going to do. Athletes spend time at their sport getting ready for the big event. Musicians spend much of their time practicing for a concert or their recital. Artists and Architects do a lot of sketches and preliminary work before they render their creation to paper or canvas.
Sales people practice their "pitch" to be as convincing as possible when presented with a customer. The military drills, drills, drills and spend a lot of time on maneuvers before they go to war. Physicians spend years in school, residency and pouring through journals making sure they are prepared for that life or death case.
Attorneys study case law for years to make sure that the correct verdicts are rendered when they plead a case before judge and jury. Even ministers do a lot of research into the meaning of this or that before they preach the Word of God, to accurately give their congregations the truths of God. No matter the occupation or the endeavor, we spend a lot of time getting ready.
Do you make the same effort getting ready for the return of Jesus Christ? Do you take the time necessary preparing yourself and others for the coming of eternity. Are you just as focused on making sure that everyone you encounter is also ready to meet their Maker? If we are honest, for most of us the answer is "NO", yet we will spend far more time after life than before our death. And who knows, maybe Jesus WILL comeback in our lifetime.
Will you be ready?
