Forget the Past; Press On - December 31, 2013

Philippians 3:13-14 (New International Version)

13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do:

Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

This great passage in Paul's letter to the church in Philippi, reminds us that what has happened in 2013, should stay in 2013. We need to forget what we are leaving behind in this year, and look forward to the great things that will happen in the new year, 2014.

God has things for us to do, and "we need to be about His business". In the new year, we need to be pointing others to the salvation that Jesus Christ offers us, the children that God so deeply loves. We need to be also discovering and sharing the "new life" that is in store for those who follow after God. Yes, there will be challenges, but the wonderful thing is that God will be with us every step of the way, as long as we surrender ourselves to Him.

So, say goodbye 2013, and welcome 2014, looking forward in anticipation that God has good things in store for you. Have a Happy New Year, and may God bless you as you "press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called you heavenward in Christ Jesus".
