A Child Is Born - December 3, 2012

Isaiah 9:6(New King James Version)
6 For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

There is nothing more wonderful than the birth of a new baby. It is truly a wonder to be a part of. I remember full well the birth of my own daughter; it was an event that moved me to joy and tears at the same time, and it changed my life forever. I am sure that those of you who are parents can easily relate to this. The emotions we go through are forerunners to the promise we hold for that small little miracle from God. In those moments we place our hopes and dreams, wondering what will become of our tiny baby. It is new life and a new beginning.

I am sure that God had all of these things in mind, when He sent His only Son from the throne room of Heaven, to be clothed in human flesh. The Prophet Isaiah said as much 700 years before the event. He spoke of God's promise and hope for mankind, and what the man Jesus would become. Fully God, yet fully man, a tiny baby that would become a man that people could relate to, because He would walk in our shoes, feel what we would feel, and yet exhibit a strength that could only be from God.

That small little miracle would someday carry the burden of all of the world's sin, past present and future, upon a wooden cross, and give His life for us.

The past couple of years I have taken you with me on my Advent journey as I travel the path of "the coming", the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus. I hope you enjoy reading these highlights about our Savior as much as I do.
