Who Is Worthy of Our Glory? - February 5, 2012
Psalm 115:1 (New International Reader's Version)
1 Lord, may glory be given to you, not to us. You are loving and faithful.
Revelation 4:9-11 (New International Reader's Version)
9 The living creatures give glory, honor and thanks to the One who sits on the throne and who lives for ever and ever. 10 At the same time, the twenty-four elders fall down and worship the One who sits on the throne and who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns in front of the throne. They say,
11 "You are worthy, our Lord and God! You are worthy to receive glory and honor and power. You are worthy because you created all things. They were created and they exist. That is the way you planned it."
It's Super Bowl Sunday, and many have gathered with family and friends to celebrate the big game. It is the most anticipated and watched televised sporting event each year.
Days and days of media hype have only added to the build up of this event. Though there are many disapponted fans from the results of the NFL Football Season that has just passed, all has been forgotten as sides are chosen for this single, annual festival of football, that praises and gives glory to the last two pro-football teams still standing!
But, are we missing something here? Do we give God this same amount of attention? Do we anticipate and discuss, prepare and setup, just as much for the King of Kings as we do for the kings of football? Do we take time out of each and every day to celebrate what He has accomplished on our behalf? Have we given Him the glory He is worthy to recieve?
Revelation 1:6 (New International Version)
To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father—to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen.
