2 Corinthians 1:3-5(New International Version)
3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.
5 For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ.
We have been talking alot about going through tough times in my postings. The way things are in the world these days, it seems that there are many people out there that are going through some kind of trouble. Almost on a daily basis I hear about difficulties, whether it's a job layoff or illness, or financial distress, many people out there are going through a something. Following Jesus we aren't immune to be difficulties, they come into our lives as well.
What is important for us to learn is what we do with what we are going through; the lessons that we learn while going through trouble. Many times the trouble and difficulty we go through as a Christ follower are for a purpose. God takes us through "stuff" to demonstrate His mercy, grace and power in our circumstances. He is in our deepest valleys with us, and when we climb out we have a story to tell of His goodness. He identifies with us through Christ's sufferings, and we can be assured that He will be there if we stay close to Jesus.
What we need to remember is that every difficulty we will go through will have a "silver lining". God will bring us through it; it is up to us to help others that are going through what we have just been through, and to share the comfort that a relationship with Jesus Christ can bring. We all are surrounded by friends and others that are having problems. Be sure that you are there to help.
