Habakkuk 3:17-19(New Living Translation)
17 Even though the fig trees have no blossoms,
and there are no grapes on the vines;
even though the olive crop fails,
and the fields lie empty and barren;
even though the flocks die in the fields,
and the cattle barns are empty,
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord!
I will be joyful in the God of my salvation!
19 The Sovereign Lord is my strength!
He makes me as surefooted as a deer,
able to tread upon the heights.
Lately I have been talking about making it through times of difficulty. I have been pointing out that God has a reason and plan for everything we go through, and I have pointed out that because of His "walking in our shoes", Jesus Christ understands what we are going through. In knowing us so intimately through the Holy Spirit, He never abandons us if we will stay close to Him.
Yes, this can bring along with it a certain amount of comfort and confidence as we go through our trial, but what do you do if no matter what you do, nothing gets better? How do you respond to God if all of your prayers remain unanswered? What do you do next to survive your calamity?
It is at that time, when all else has failed, that you surrender to God and give Him praise. In spite of all that happens to us while we are on this earth, the bottom line is that He has created us, and because of that He ultimately deserves our praise. Yes, life on this earth will not be fair, and inevitably we will feel left alone in our difficulty and pain. That doesn't mean that God does not care.
He does have the Master Plan for our life, and truth is that we may never know what the outcome will be, but He does. In those times, give it all over to Him and praise Him. In spite of your circumstance, give Him praise. Even if you lose everything, give Him praise. Know that no matter what, you still have your salvation in Jesus Christ, and that is all that matters for eternity.
When you finally surrender it all, then He can really work in your life and give you the strength to make it through.
