Psalm 20:1-5(New International Version)
1 May the LORD answer you when you are in distress;
may the name of the God of Jacob protect you.
2 May he send you help from the sanctuary
and grant you support from Zion.
3 May he remember all your sacrifices
and accept your burnt offerings.
4 May he give you the desire of your heart
and make all your plans succeed.
5 May we shout for joy over your victory
and lift up our banners in the name of our God.
May the LORD grant all your requests.
Well tomorrow is another Monday; you might call them Murphy Mondays, that dreaded day of the week when all that can go wrong mostly does. When you call around or meet different people and ask them about the day, you usually get the comments that, "It's a typical Monday!" or "I guess it's alright for a Monday!". Many of us then take it home and tell our spouses how terrible it was. Why does this one day have to be so hard?
Maybe it's because most of us just dive into our work week headlong; or it's because we enjoyed the weekend so much that any day we go back to work would be a let down. I say that the answer is much simpler than that. I believe it's a spiritual problem. The first day of the work week is tough because we have not committed it to prayer. For most of us, the only time we pray about the week is after Monday is over, when we ask God for relief. I say that attitude and priorities are all wrong!
Our first inclination each week is first to acknowlege God's hand in our lives by taking time for Him on Sunday. Next, we need to go through the work week in our minds, lifting every detail to God. If we will ask Jesus Christ to help us be more like Him and to be with us throughout the week, things will go much better, especially Mondays. If we take a Christ-like attitude to work with us and display it to all who we come in contact with us, their Mondays will be better too!
Above is a Psalm of David. The beginning verses are a great place to start. Let them be your prayer for yourself, your family and everyone you will come in contact with. Try it, and see how Mondays become the best day of the week!
