God's Patience - June 28, 2011

2 Peter 3:9(New International Version NIV)
9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

Yesterday we talked about how we needed to slow down the busyness of our world and learn God's patience, especially being patient about the return of Jesus Christ for His people. Our world would have us rushing towards oblivion, but our amazing Creator is patient with us. His desire is that all of mankind would be redeemed; all would turn from their sin, turn their lives around, and be restored to be with Him forever.

Few understand that this has been God's plan since the beginning. Since mankind "fell" into disobedience, God set out to provide a Way for us to be restored. That Way was through Jesus Christ. Through His death as payment for our sin, we have the opportunity to fulfill God's original plan: to live with mankind forever. He created us in love and restores us in love as well.

The fact that God is patient with us is truly a miracle. None of us deserve to be with Him, but in His patience, we gives us all the opportunity to come to Him. Someday, there will be a last person that comes to the saving knowledge of Jesus; then the end will come. Don't wear out His patience. Make sure you accept is act of love and accept Him today.
