Blessed Assurance - June 14, 2011

Revelation 21:5-7(New Living Translation)
5 And the one sitting on the throne said, “Look, I am making everything new!” And then he said to me, “Write this down, for what I tell you is trustworthy and true.”

6 And he also said, “It is finished! I am the Alpha and the Omega—the Beginning and the End. To all who are thirsty I will give freely from the springs of the water of life. 7 All who are victorious will inherit all these blessings, and I will be their God, and they will be my children.

There are very few sure things in life, in fact you often hear people say that the only sure things are death and taxes. Even so, many of us fall into doing many things thinking that they are sure things, only to be disappointed both in the situation and ourselves. After this has happened to us several times, because we often have short memories, we eventually become somewhat jaded and extremely pessimistic about any new opportunity.

There is a sure thing that seldom gets mentioned in that list of sure things, and that is salvation. It does carry with it conditions that have to be met. We can be sure of our salvation, our hope and promise for eternal life with God, if we accept the free gift of God in Jesus Christ. Jesus paid for all of our sins by His death on the cross, and in doing so He has given us His sure promise that we can be made right with God.

If you are looking for a sure thing, why not accept the "blessed assurance" that God offers? Why not commit your life to serving Jesus, and you will be sure that your eternity is taken care of.
