1 Corinthians 15:48-49 (New International Version, ©2011)
48 As was the earthly man, so are those who are of the earth; and as is the heavenly man, so also are those who are of heaven. 49 And just as we have borne the image of the earthly man, so shall we bear the image of the heavenly man.
I am sure all of you have seen the television show "Extreme Makeover", about a group of TV personalities, a home building company and sponsors, tearing down and rebuilding a home for a deserving family. The stories of those chosen are always heartwarming, and by the end of the program the viewer is cheering the fact that this family has been given a new home.
You can almost compare this makeover and the many other makeover shows with what happens to our spiritual house when Jesus Christ gets a hold of it, only problem is that we are not that deserving of the makeover. Our sinful, earthly "man" self has separated us from God, and all we really deserve is to let our "house" burn down.
Thank God for His mercy and goodness, because He has offered us a "total makeover" for our spiritual house. He has given us His unmerited favor and grace and allowed us to receive something totally undeserved. The heavenly Man, Jesus Christ, died on the cross and tore down the wall of separation between man and God and rebuilt it with a bridge to the Father.
If we accept this offer of redemption, we too can find ourselves the fortunate receipient of a new house, only this one is a reflection of Jesus.
