True Christianity - October 18, 2010

Colossians 2:6-10,16-19 (New International Version)
6So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, 7rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.

8See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ.

9For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, 10and you have been given fullness in Christ, who is the head over every power and authority.
...
16Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. 17These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.

18Do not let anyone who delights in false humility and the worship of angels disqualify you for the prize. Such a person goes into great detail about what he has seen, and his unspiritual mind puffs him up with idle notions. 19He has lost connection with the Head, from whom the whole body, supported and held together by its ligaments and sinews, grows as God causes it to grow.

People today have a false sense of what it means to be a Christain. Because it has been vastly distorted by our culture, media, education system, etc., most people alive have no real understanding of what it means to be a Christain.

Sad thing is that even many of our mainline churches do not correctly teach what it takes to be a Christain, and yes, even the largest church in the world is misguided in what it teaches its parishoners about what it really means to be a Christain.

That is primarily why, although we were founded as a nation based of principles from the God of the Bible, we have been taken over by political and spiritual forces that are trying to eliminate Christain thought from our nation today. We are being forced into a secular humanist society that is embracing the ways of man rather than following the guidance of God.

The root of the problem is this: many alive today have been taught error in their individual denominations about our faith. I know that most of us grew up thinking that being a Christain required us to follow a bunch of rules and regulations, "do's and dont's". Nothing can be further from the truth. You will read what I mean if you take a few minutes and study these verses from Paul's letter to the Colossians.

Tomorrow, we will study further on this very important subject.
