True Christianity (Cont.) - October 20, 2010

1 Corinthians 1:18 (GOD’S WORD Translation)
18The message about the cross is nonsense to those who are being destroyed, but it is God’s power to us who are being saved.

1 Corinthians 1:18 (New International Version)
18For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

In our society and the world we live in today, fundamental Christianity is seen as foolishness. We are told that it is for people with weak minds and old-fashion ideas. It is something that those who are hostile to Christian thought find repulsive. In our public institutions Chritianity has become a "dirty" word, and it has been labled as a religion of bigotry and intolerance.

Over the last several decades, because the Christian message has been so distorted and undefended by liberal theologins, it has been turned into something to fear and avoid. If you embrace the faith and try to live your life as a faithful witness, you are seen as a "crackpot" or as someone to be marginalized.

In our country today every other religion is tolerated and overtly protected, but there is little room for anything that might be identified with being Christian. Even our President chooses to cover up any symbols of Christ if they are found in certain venues is which he is speaking(On multiple occassions he purposely edits any references to "the Creator" when he invokes the Declaration of Independence; but I digress).

Is the message of Jesus Christ so powerful that it causes men to want to get rid of it however they can? Are they so threatened by the "mirror" of the Bible and the gospel that they choose to elliminate it from everything?
What is it about true Christianity that makes it so misunderstood?
