Romans 12:12 (New International Version)
12Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
Hebrews 10:32,36 (New International Version)
32Remember those earlier days after you had received the light, when you stood your ground in a great contest in the face of suffering.
36You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.
It takes more than a day and a few platitudes to work ourselves out of difficulty. Yesterday I wrote and asked if you were overwhelmed by persecution, or searching for ways to overcome problems. Sometimes what you encounter weighs so heavily on you that it leads you into deep depression. Or it might create within you so much anxiety and worry that it becomes difficult to function in everyday life. I have had those times in my life, especially before I gave it all to Jesus Christ. These times are very real, and at times you almost feel hopeless.
There is a real solution for what you are going through and cure for the fear that you are encountering. First you need to regain your trust that God will take care of you, and not lose hope. You need to seek to be joyful despite the circumstances, knowing that what you are going through will come to an end. You need to also learn to be patient in your suffering, and be confident that your troubles are temporary. Finally, as I state many many times, you need to commit everything to prayer. Prayer is your way of communicating your concerns to God. He likes hearing from you, and if you feel like He is not hearing you or answering your requests, stay with it.
There is an old adage that I have heard many times: You can't enjoy the mountain top until you have come through the valley. But you need to also remember this; once you have commited yourself to walk with God in Jesus Christ, He will be with you through it all. He is there waiting for you to call on Him, and He will lift your every burden. Stay with Him just as He is always with you.
