Accountable - August 14, 2010

Isaiah 55:8-9 (New Century Version)
8 The Lord says, "My thoughts are not like your thoughts. Your ways are not like my ways.

9 Just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.

Romans 11:33-34 (GOD’S WORD Translation)
33God’s riches, wisdom, and knowledge are so deep that it is impossible to explain his decisions or to understand his ways.

34“Who knows how the Lord thinks? Who can become his adviser?”

We have become too comfortable with God. Many of us have lost our "fear of the Lord". Yes, He loves us deeply and has provided us the way to redeem ourselves and spend eternity with Him, but to many of us He is way too small. Our God created the universe and everything in it! Who are we to question what He does? Who are we to get angry with Him when things don't go our way? Its wonderful though that His grace and mercy, His "loving kindness" as the Bible says, is limitless for those who love and seek Him.

Psalm 145:3 (New International Version)
3 Great is the LORD and most worthy of praise;his greatness no one can fathom.

Someday, all of us will find ourselves accountable to Him. We will stand before His judgement and have to answer for what we did in this life. Yes, we who call on Jesus as Savior will be saved through eternity, but we will still have to give an account for our actions with what He has given us.

Ephesians 3:16-19 (New Living Translation)
16 I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. 17 Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. 18 And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. 19 May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

If you have stumbled acorss this post, or you have been reading along for awhile and have not surrendered your will to Him, and accepted His only way to salvation through Jesus Christ, this needs to be a warning to you. His grace and mercy are only for this life. He is calling for you, and you only have this lifetime to come to Him. Your time on this earth is very short when measured against eternity. Do not gamble with where you will spend eternity. Do not discount His grace, saying you have plenty of time to get right with God. The end of this life could come at any moment.

And, if you have friends, or children, or other loved ones who do not believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, it is your responsibility to share what Jesus can do for them. You must plant the seeds, others will water, and the Holy Spirit will produce the harvest.
