The Proverbs: Raising Children - June 24, 2010

Proverbs 22:6 (New International Reader's Version)
6 Train a child in the way he should go. When he is old, he will not turn away from it.

Ephesians 6:4(New Living Translation)
4 Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord.

Colossians 3:21 (New American Standard Bible)
21Fathers, do not exasperate your children, so that they will not lose heart.

2 Timothy 3:15(New Living Translation)
15 You have been taught the holy Scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus.

It is unfortunate that children do not come with instruction manuals. Much has been written about the how to properly raise children, and there has always been many opinions and teachings about what you should do. The truth of the matter these days is that the state of children is in such turmoil, and the current generation is so lost, that something needs to be done.

Centuries ago, God gave us true instruction on what needs to be done in the raising of children. The truths He has set aside in His word are timeless. Bottom-line is this, set proper boundaries and correction appropriate for the age, instruct them in the things of God, and encourage them to follow the leading of God in their lives. It really is simple if you think about it when you involve God in everything you do when it comes to children.

As in all things, if you seek God's help in prayer, and you dedicate them to His service, it will be much easier to raise strong confident well-rounded children.
