The Proverbs: God's Correction - June 6, 2010

Proverbs 3:11-12 (New Living Translation)
11 My child, don’t reject the Lord’s discipline,
and don’t be upset when he corrects you.
12 For the Lord corrects those he loves,
just as a father corrects a child in whom he delights.

Hebrews 12:5-7(New International Reader's Version)
5 You have forgotten that word of hope. It speaks to you as children. It says,

"My son, think of the Lord's training as important.
Do not lose hope when he corrects you.
6 The Lord trains those he loves.
He punishes everyone he accepts as a son." —(Proverbs 3:11,12)

7 Put up with hard times. God uses them to train you. He is treating you as children. What children are not trained by their parents?

Revelation 3:19(New International Reader's Version)
19 'I correct and train those I love. So be sincere, and turn away from your sins.

If you are a believer in Christ, but you are going back and forth between God's plan and the world, you may be in for a bit of a problem. There is nothing you do that escapes the eyes of God. There is nothing that remains hidden, for He will bring whatever you do in darkness into the light. There is no way that you can claim to be a follower of Jesus Christ, and continue to live your old lifestyle that you followed as an unbeliever.

The great thing is that God works in your life to bring you back into His good graces. The passages above and the teaching from the Book of Proverbs, tells us how God brings His children into righteous living. He will not let those He loves stray too far, before He sets us back on the right track.
