The Proverbs: Getting On Track - June 18, 2010

Proverbs 16:3,7,9,17,25 (New Living Translation)
3 Commit your actions to the Lord, and your plans will succeed.
7 When people’s lives please the Lord, even their enemies are at peace with them.
9 We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.
17 The path of the virtuous leads away from evil; whoever follows that path is safe.
25 There is a path before each person that seems right, but it ends in death.

Hebrews 12:1-2 (New International Version)
1Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. 2Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

For many of us it took many years and alot of heartache before we finally submitted to God's guidance and direction for our lives. What we find out is that God's ways are much better for us than the world's ways. We end up getting many scars that show us how far we have come, and they serve as reminders of where we ought not to go.

When we come to the saving knowledge of the work of Jesus Christ, we are renewed and more able to commit ourselves to God's plans for us. He sends His Spirit to inhabit our lives and gives us wisdom and peace about where we are going. If you have not turned your life and your plans to God, surrender your life to Him. His promise is that when you do He will take care of the rest.
