James 1:2-4;12 (New International Version)
2Consider it pure joy, my brothers(and sisters), whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. 4Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
12Blessed is the man(or woman)who perseveres under trial, because when he(she) has stood the test, he(she) will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.( )Parenthesis mine
There have been many times in my life where the circumstances and the burdens of this life have really weighed me down. During the darkest moments in my life, I reached out to God to find relief and comfort for the difficulty that I was going through. Everytime this has occurred, as long as I sought God for shelter, the situation was resolved for the better.
When we become a Christian, this does not automatically give you immunity from the difficulties of life. In fact Jesus told his disciples just the opposite when he said,"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."John 16:33 (NIV) What we are promised by God is that He will be with us through the situation.
In fact, each and every trial we go through is a test, meant for our own good. It may not seem so while we are going through it, but God has a good purpose that will come out of every situation that a Christian goes through. We need to remember, as I have said several times about Next Worth living, everything we go through has an eternal purpose. Although sometimes we can look back and see where God helped us through a difficult circumstance, and we have been better off for it, the results of the many of the trials we will experience in life will not be realized until we have passed from this life.
If you are facing such a trial or difficulty right now, seek God in prayer. Ask Him to guide you through the situation, and He will provide you the wisdom and comfort you need to sustain you.
