John 4:23-24 (New Century Version)
23 The time is coming when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, and that time is here already. You see, the Father too is actively seeking such people to worship him. 24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth."
2 Chronicles 5:13-14 (New Living Translation)
13 The trumpeters and singers performed together in unison to praise and give thanks to the Lord. Accompanied by trumpets, cymbals, and other instruments, they raised their voices and praised the Lord with these words:
“He is good!
His faithful love endures forever!”
At that moment a thick cloud filled the Temple of the Lord. 14 The priests could not continue their service because of the cloud, for the glorious presence of the Lord filled the Temple of God.
What is the object of your worship this weekend? Is it that SALE at the mall that seems too good to pass up that you will be in the parking lot before the mall opens, just to take advantage of it? Is it that SPORTS tournament that is the culmination of the whole season, and to get the best spot to view the competition you have to arrive early and stake out your spot? Is it that WORK opportunity that you have worked on for weeks and today is the day when it all comes together and you have to be prepared to do your best?
Is it new TOY that you have to buy this weekend, because the prices are at the lowest of the year and you don't want to miss your chance to get what you have always dreamed about owning? Is it that TRIP to that place, that perfect spot you have always wanted to go to, the weather is beautiful and the time has never been more convenient?
Not that any of these things is bad and should not be enjoyed by us, but is it the your main emphasis for your attention, your WORSHIP, this weekend? Has you mind spent hours and hours thinking about this very thing that it has consummed any space left for anything else?
God desires and loves SIGNIFICANT WORSHIP! He loves spending time with His children and in turn His children taking time for Him. He wants to own their hearts and in turn care deeply for them. He is a mighty God, a gracious and merciful God who is worthy of our WORSHIP and PRAISE!
As you plan out how to spend this weekend, when you might normally focus on something else, make sure you first seek the only object of your worship that will truly SATISFY your soul and bring JOY to your heart. Be sure that JESUS is the center of your WORSHIP and God is the object of your time.
