His Story: The Beginning - March 21, 2010

Genesis 1:1,26-28 (Amplified Bible)
1IN THE beginning God (prepared, formed, fashioned, and) created the heavens and the earth.
26God said, Let Us [Father, Son, and Holy Spirit] make mankind in Our image, after Our likeness, and let them have complete authority over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the [tame] beasts, and over all of the earth, and over everything that creeps upon the earth.

27So God created man in His own image, in the image and likeness of God He created him; male and female He created them.

28And God blessed them and said to them, Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it [using all its vast resources in the service of God and man]; and have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and over every living creature that moves upon the earth.

Psalm 8:4-6 (New Century Version)
4 But why are people even important to you?
Why do you take care of human beings?
5 You made them a little lower than the angels
and crowned them with glory and honor.
6 You put them in charge of everything you made.
You put all things under their control:

And so, that is how I believe it all began. No one can tell me that God didn't create everything, because as a scientist by education and degree, I see the wonder of the order of life. It is interesting that those who promote evolution have to constantly add millions of years to their calculations to account for the unique forms and adaptations that surround us in nature. No one can tell me that this is all here by chance. I am not a gambling person that relies on chance, nor a mathematician, but I do know that nothing comes from nothing; "0 X 0 = 0".

Let's then agree that God created it all. Why? For his pleasure...because He wanted to. This is how His Story begins and how man's story became intertwined with everthing associated with the earth and with our Creator. God created us for His glory, and He gave us authority over His creation. In creating us like Himself, He gave us a free will. We weren't created to be robots, to respond only mechanically or like the animals, to live and multiply and die, without thoughts toward who created them or how they were created.

As account in Genesis goes, God creates mankind and places them in the most beautiful place in all the earth, called Eden, or as ancient peoples called it, Yahweh's Dwelling Place. Bottom line is that God chose a place on the earth where He could spend time with us. If you read the account, you will learn that God(many believe the pre-incarnate Jesus, the 2nd person of the Trinity) walked with them. He wanted a close relationship with the "jewel" of His creation. He cared for their every need and gave them the work of tending for the rest of His creation. But, He gave them free will so that we could express our love in return to Him.

That is how it was in the beginning. That was God's original intent. He created mankind and He cared for their every need and gave them the work of tending for the rest of His creation. But, He gave them free will so that mankind could express their love in return to Him. The rest of the Bible is God's desire to return us to that relationship.

As we approach Easter, I would like to explore how we got ourselves into the mess that we find ourselves in, and how God ultimately provided us the way to return home. Please spend time studying the verses I present as you prepare for the coming Easter celebration.
